Credit unions throughout the state of New Hampshire, all members of the New Hampshire Credit Union League (NHCUL), were treated to sweets and personal expressions of gratitude from Wish Children and volunteers from the Make-A-Wish® of New Hampshire (Make-A-Wish®) on February 12-14, 2013. Twenty-five Wish Children and their families visited 18 credit unions throughout New Hampshire to deliver sweets and to offer personal thanks and share highlights of their wishes, made possible in part by the NHCUL.
In Merrimack and Nashua, six Wish Children visited Anheuser-Busch Employee’s Credit Union, St. Joseph’s Hospital Employees’ Credit Union and Triangle Credit Union on February 12th. Four year old Wish Child, Rylee, visited the staff of Triangle Credit Union – wearing her formal princess gown - and shared memories of her family trip to Disney World. Rylee delivered cookies to share with staff at Triangle Credit Union.
“The New Hampshire Credit Union League members look forward to Valentine’s Day each year, knowing that they’ll have a chance to reconnect with Wish Children, whose wishes they have played a significant role in granting. Credit union staff is thrilled to hear about family treks to Disney World; a Disney Cruise; or the installation of a family pool or playhouse in a Wish Child’s backyard. It’s inspiring and motivates the credit unions to continue their benevolent work. Since 1996, the NHCUL has been a proud supporter of Make-A-Wish®, raising a total of $1.6 million to support the goals of this benevolent organization: granting wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions,” said Gerald Dumoulin, chairman of the NHCUL Board. “The NHCUL is proud to be recognized as Make-A-Wish® largest corporate partner, and even prouder to enhance the lives of children living in New Hampshire who are confronted with serious health issues,” added Dumoulin.
Julie P. Baron, CEO of the Make-A-Wish® of New Hampshire, praised the successful collaboration between Make-A-Wish® and the NHCUL. “Make-A-Wish® is so appreciative of the amazing partnership we share with the NHCUL. Their support of our mission to grant the wishes of children with life- threatening medical conditions has brought joy to so many children. Their impact has reached every corner of the state – bringing hope, strength, and joy into the lives of children who are facing some very grown up battles,” said Baron. “Valentine’s Day is special to Wish Children throughout New Hampshire – it allows them the chance to visit with and thank the heroes who made their dreams a reality,” added Baron.
